11 new teams return in this season to win the million dollar prize, Phil Keoghan greeted the teams in which promises that the last team in the first challenge will face off a U-Turn, the task involves teams searching in a vast area searching for the plane which reads QANTAS.
All teams except, Amanda & Kris, Kisha & Jen and Gary & Mallory were on the second flight to Australia, Amanda & Kris were the last to complete the first task were automatically given a penalty of an U-Turn, however the first flight out had an incident involving a passenger who has to be evacuated to a hospital due to heart attack.
Teams were told to go head to the Oceanworld in Manly and soon teams were greeted a roadblock which requires one team member to dive in to the ocean world with a shoal of sharks to find a compass and once on shore, that team member must diciper the code: Manly, 16 Ft, Skiff Sailing Club, Find the Commodore, and tell him the secret catchphrase: I am between the devil and and the deep blue sea to receive their next clue.
When the teams who is in the 1st flight arrive shortly, Jet & Cord found themselves to be bottom of the pack as their missed their boat to Manly. Gary & Mallory on the other hand, found themselves good fortune and receives their next clue telling them to ski the 16 foot skiff and once the gun is opened, they must navigate through the waters to a nearby buoy to get their next clue.
As Gary & Mallory finishes the task, they were directed to Shelly Beach, the first pitstop for this leg of the race. Gary & Mallory wins the Express Pass, however all 3 teams were told that this is not the actual pitstop and must continue, shortly joined by Amanda & Kris and Kisha & Jen who finished 2nd and 3rd respectively. Zev & Justin, Flight Time & Big Easy, Jamie & Cara, Margie & Luke, Ron & Christina, Mel & Mike checked in 4th to 9th place. Soon it is the race to the final finish in which Kent & Vyxsin checked in 10th and Jet & Cord were the last to arrive.
